Mercy joins Taney County business development group

Posted online
Mercy has joined the ranks of the Taney County Business Development Partnership.

Founded in late 2011, the Branson-based group aims to bolster Taney County's business climate by enhancing job growth and develop capital investment in the area.

Mercy Hospital Springfield President Dr. Robert Steele said its entrance into the development group marks the health system's commitment to Taney County.

“Mercy has served the residents of Taney County for decades, and with our rapid progress of expanding medical care at Highways 65 and 248, we intend to continue that service for years to come,” Steele said in a news release. “We know having access to high-quality health care improves the lives within the community and helps attract new businesses. We are pleased to be a partner in this progress."

Mercy's development plans in Branson call for a roughly 60,000-square-foot, $30 million clinic on the former Branson Inn site. Mercy also acquired the adjacent Oak Ridge Boys Theatre from the group who owns The Mansion Theatre. While hospital officials have expressed interest in using the theater property to expand health care services in Branson, no firm plans are in place, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.

"Their engagement in Taney County underwrites our ongoing efforts bring new jobs and attract new opportunities to the region," Taney County Business Development Partnership Chairman Rick Ziegenfuss said in the release.[[In-content Ad]]
