Mercy Health Plans to build new local headquarters

Posted online
Mercy Health Plans will move its Springfield headquarters to a new building on South National Avenue in April 2009.

Mercy Health Plans will build a two-story, 42,500-square-foot facility at 4520 S. National Ave. and relocate from its current home in Corporate Center on East Sunshine Street, according to a news release from St. John’s. Click here for a larger view of the project rendering.

The new facility will have a structural steel frame, and the exterior will be a combination of laid-up brick, a high-tech panel system and high-efficiency reflective vision and spandrel glass, according to the release.

The building’s interior design is based on an open floor plan with the maximum amount of natural light transmitted throughout. There will be private employee work stations, training and conference space, and a break room.

The project developer is Discovery Group LLC of St. Louis, and the project owner is Explorer Investments 2 LLC. The general contractor is McCown-Gordon Construction of Kansas City. Design work is by Space Inc. of St. Louis, project architect; Alper Audi & Associates, structural; EDM & Associates, mechanical and electrical engineer; and Springfield firms Scott Consulting Engineers, Palmerton & Parrish and SCI Inc. for civil, geotechnical engineering and environmental consulting, respectively.

The Springfield operation comprises a customer contact center supporting more than 80,000 customers in southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas. The Springfield office also handles claims operations for Mercy Health Plans’ 250,000 members.

The new building will accommodate 146 employees in sales, customer service and account management.

Among the products offered by Mercy Health Plans in Greene County are health maintenance organization plans, administrative services-only plans, preferred provider organization plans and the Mercy Medicare Advantage Plan. All plans offered in Springfield are in partnership with St. John’s Health System.[[In-content Ad]]
