Chesterfield-based Mercy Health has signed a “nonbinding letter of intent” to transfer ownership of its hospital and physician clinic in Hot Springs, Ark., to nonprofit Catholic Health Initiatives and its affiliate in Little Rock, Ark., the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
According to the report, Englewood, Colo.-based CHI – the nation's third-largest faith-based system – would assume control of the the 282-bed, 80-physician hospital by the end of the year. CHI affiliate, St. Vincent Health Systems, already operates a 615-bed hospital in Little Rock.
The transfer would require approval from all thee governing boards, as well as antitrust approval by federal and state authorities and the blessing of Catholic Church officials.
