Physicians and co-workers at Mercy Clinic raised $85,600 for local charities through its Force for Good campaign.

With the theme "Heart and Sole," the grant cycle focused on benefiting children and families. The Force for Good campaign, which runs twice a year, has raised over $1.68 million during the past 10 years, according to a news release.

This funding cycle included:
  • $17,500 to OneSolePurpose to purchase new shoes for nearly 6,000 elementary school children in Springfield Public Schools;
  • $17,500 to Cents of Pride, a program that helps SPS elementary children earn needed items such as clothing, shoes and hygiene products;
  • $15,000 to The Salvation Army for its back-to-school program, designed to provide local children with school supplies, backpacks, shoes and clothing;
  • $10,000 to Gift of Hope, which provides assistance with items such as college scholarships and holiday gifts for families in Taney County;
  • $7,500 to Women in Need of the Ozarks, which provides short-term financial help to single, working women who find themselves in times of crisis;
  • $6,600 to Great Circle, the former Boys & Girls Town of Missouri, which provides behavioral health services to children and families;
  • $6,000 to Friends of Operations Us, which will use the funding for workshops educating new parents and those that focus on fathers and their roles in the family;
  • $4,000 to Diaper Bank of the Ozarks, which distributes approximately 13,000 diapers to partners agencies across the region each month; and
  • $1,500 to Phelps County Back-to-School Fair, a partnership between Mercy Clinic-Rolla and the Lion's Club that provides health screenings and school supplies for some 600 children.
