Merck reported first-quarter earnings and revenue that topped analysts' expectations.
Adjusted earnings per share were $2.22, compared with analysts' expectations of $2.14 per share. Revenue of $15.5 billion was ahead of expectations of $15.3 billion.
For the full year, Merck lowered its profit guidance. The company cited $200 million in expected costs from tariffs and a charge tied to a recent deal.
