Mercedes-Benz could become a separate Daimler division

German luxury automaker Daimler AG is considering splitting off Mercedes-Benz into an independent division.

The company also is considering making independent its trucks-and-buses division and its financial services business.

The plans, which have not been finalized, would not mean divesting the businesses.
