Meetings educate voters before Feb. 6 election

Posted online
City of Springfield staff will be on hand tonight at an open house for the public to learn about capital improvements projects included in next month’s sales-tax renewal election.

The open house will be 5–7 p.m. in Meeting Room A at The Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell. A second event will be held at the same time on Jan. 16 in the Frisco Meeting Room of The Library Station, 2535 N. Kansas Expressway.

Capital improvement projects already completed will be up for review, as will projects that Springfield City Council will undertake if the sales tax is renewed Feb. 6.

Voters approved the ¼-cent sales tax for capital improvements in 1989; it has been renewed every three years under a sunset provision. A renewal next month would not mean an increase in taxes.

Information about the projects also is available at www.springfieldmogov.org/elections.[[In-content Ad]]
