Meet this year’s class of Trusted Advisers

Posted online
All business owners and top executives have a team of professionals who are as much a part of their success as their employees. These professionals know the intimate details of the clients’ business. They are trusted advisers.

Entering its third year, Springfield Business Journal’s Trusted Advisers Awards will honor 19 individuals in three categories – Trusted Adviser, Up-and-Comer and Legacy Adviser – during a Sept. 16 luncheon at DoubleTree Hotel.

Chosen by an independent panel of judges and honoring professionals in the five advisory areas of accountant, banker, insurance agent, lawyer and wealth manager, the luncheon will culminate with a pinnacle award dubbed the Legacy Adviser. Recognizing an individual from any of the five areas with at least 20 years in the field, this year’s Legacy Adviser award honors Certified Public Accountant Jason Rader, a partner with BKD LLP.

Noting the talent and ambition of industry professionals who are still making a name for themselves, the Up-and-Comer award honors three advisers with less than five years in business. This year’s Up-and-Comer honors go to Nate Dunville, an attorney with Neale & Newman LLP; Marcus Harmon, a loan officer at Old Missouri Bank; and Chris Lock, an account manager with Naught-Naught Insurance Agency Inc.

Honoring professionals in the field for more than five years, Trusted Advisers honorees in five professional fields, in alphabetical order, are:

 • Accountant: Joe Page, The Whitlock Co. LLP; Angela Patrick, KPM CPAs PC; and Jeff Shore, BRS CPAs and Advisors LLC;

• Banker: Luke Fraser, Springfield First Community Bank; Ilene Glenn, Bank of Bolivar; and Brett Magers, Legacy Bank and Trust;

• Insurance agent: Peggy Gawley, Ollis/Akers/Arney; John Piatchek, Piatchek & Associates Inc.; and Greg Williams, Connell Insurance Inc.;

•  Lawyer: Jennifer Growcock, Polsinelli PC; Joseph Piatchek, The Piatchek Law Firm LLC; and Lori Rook, Ozarks Elder Law LLC; and

• Wealth adviser: Kraig Bode, Penney, Murray & Associates Ameriprise Financial Services; Paul Carroll, Pinnacle Family Advisors LLC; and Shari Hoffman, BKD Wealth Advisors LLC.

Honoree applications covered financial metrics, along with essay questions and civic involvement.

The Trusted Advisers luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 16 at DoubleTree Hotel, 2431 N. Glenstone Ave.

Tickets are $30 apiece and available at SBJ.net/TrustedAdvisers.
