Meek Chiropractic expanding with new clinic

Meek Chiropractic is expanding its footprint in the Plaza Shopping Center by 50% with the addition of a new clinic.

Clinton Cunningham, currently the company’s wellness coordinator, is slated to manage the new clinic, dubbed 180 Health. He said the clinic, in 5,000 square feet adjacent to Meek Chiropractic’s 10,000-square-foot space at 1934 S. Glenstone Ave., is scheduled to open in March or April 2020.

“There’s been quite an epidemic with opioids and drug abuse,” Cunningham said. “We won’t be prescribing any medication. Everything will be treated from a natural perspective.”

Employing a medical doctor and a nurse practitioner, 180 Health would utilize emerging, regenerative technologies, including stem cell and platelet-rich plasma injections, and intravenous therapy. Cunningham said a staff of four is planned initially.

Gary Meek owns both companies, operating Meek Chiropractic via Gary L. Meek, D.C. PC, and the new health clinic under 180 Health Lifestyle Wellness Centers LLC, according to Missouri secretary of state filings.

The new clinic is taking over space adjacent to Meek Chiropractic that’s being vacated by Shades Galore. Cunningham said the owner of the lampshade store is retiring.

Oak Grove Construction Services Inc. is scheduled to start infill work in January, Cunningham said, noting design work is being handled by Derington Architects LLC. He declined to estimate infill costs or provide terms of the three- to five-year lease for the 5,000-square-foot clinic. Meek Chiropractic owns its 10,000-square-foot building, he added.

“We will be leasing the spaces next door and connecting them into one full-blown health and wellness center,” Cunningham said.
