The Kebab Shack, a Mediterranean restaurant located on Battlefield Road, is temporarily closed, according to its Yelp page. It is scheduled to reopen at the end of the month on July 30.
Owners Sherif Magd and Sophia Hamid, who also own mac and cheese restaurant MacCheesy’s, have not made a statement about the closing. The restaurant’s Facebook and Instagram pages last posted on May 27 but haven’t been active since.
The Kebab Shack opened in February of last year in Battlefield Market Place at 900 W. Battlefield Road, Unit 120, according to previous Springfield Business Journal reporting. It aimed to be a healthy spot with options such as shawarmas, kebabs, falafel and salads.
Neither Magd nor Hamid responded to requests for comment from SBJ before deadline.
The original MacCheesy’s location in Joplin is temporarily closed as well, according to its Yelp page. After opening in 2017, Magd and Hamid opened a second MacCheesy’s restaurant in Springfield in 2023. The Springfield restaurant’s last Facebook post was on May 31, but the location is not labeled closed.
