Media General buying Meredith Corp. in $2.4B deal

Media General is buying Meredith Corp. in an approximately $2.4 billion cash-and-stock deal.

According to The Associated Press, the combined company, dubbed Meredith Media General, would operate 88 TV stations in 54 markets, as well as such media brands as Better Homes and Gardens, Parents and Shape.

The deal is slated to close by June 30, 2016.
