McDonald's to take $235M charge tied to refranchising

McDonald's announced yesterday its second quarter would be weighed down by a $235 million refranchising charge.

By 2018, the company plans to sell 4,000 restaurants to franchisees.

The charge, which includes some costs for relocating company headquarters to downtown Chicago, is expected to lower second-quarter earnings by 20 cents a share.
