McDonald's announced Monday plans to purchase Israeli artificial intelligence firm Dynamic Yield.
McDonald's CEO Steve Easterbrook said the purchase would expand the company's "ability to increase the role technology and data will play in our future," as well as "the speed with which we'll be able to implement our vision of creating more personalized experiences for our customers."
The fast-food giant plans to use the AI technology to custom-tailor its menu based on the time of day, the weather and how busy the restaurant is at the time. It also would recommend additional items based on the customer's initial order.
