McDonald's stuck with 10M pounds of unsold wings

McDonald's failed to sell about 20 percent of the chicken wings it bought for its Mighty Wings promotion this fall. That translates to some 10 million pounds of bone-in wings sitting in frozen storage, according to Bloomberg Businessweek.

The company appears to be going with the old adage: "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again."

“We’re bringing back Mighty Wings — stay tuned,” McDonald’s spokeswoman Lisa McComb wrote in an email to Bloomberg.

It is expected the return would showcase wings with less heat or an increased promotion of their spiciness, Bloomberg said.
