McDonald’s profits top estimates on all-day breakfast, deals

McDonald’s Corp. posted its biggest gain in same-store sales in four years during the first quarter, jumping 6.2 percent and putting it ahead of analyst estimates.
 
Although revenue dropped 0.9 percent to $5.9 billion for the quarter, it stayed above projections of $5.81 billion. Net income climbed to $1.23 a share, also above estimates of $1.16 a share, according to Bloomberg Business.
 
Strong sales were spurred by CEO Steve Easterbrook’s changes implemented last year, which included paring down menu options, adding all-day breakfast item sales and adding two-for-$2 and two-for-$5 deals.
