McDonald's flubs leave bad taste for novel offerings

The Fish McBites didn’t get any nibbles. McWraps didn’t enrapture diners and the Mighty Wings never took off. After a year of failed new products, McDonald’s is returning to what it does best: flipping burgers.
 
The burger conglomerate saw a 0.2 percent drop in sales in 2013, according to Bloomberg Businessweek, despite launching a smorgasbord of new foodstuffs at which customers overwhelmingly turned up their noses.
 
Acknowledging that folks don’t go to Mickey D’s for Egg White Delights or Quarter Pounders with dozens of toppings, the company’s newest offering hopes to give the people what they really want: A burger topped with bacon.
