Apparently, two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese and pickles on a sesame seed bun doesn't sound very appetizing to folks anymore.
McDonald's closed last week with the announcement that its sales fell 7 percent in the fourth quarter and profits by 21 percent. Sales are also down in Europe and Asia, CNNMoney reports. Tainted meat played a role in the fast-food chain's unappetizing Asia sales.
In an attempt to bolster sales, the company plans to further simplify its menu, offer healthier foods, localize menus and slow expansion. The efforts aren't expected to shine up the golden arches, though: Consumers are currently hot for fast-casual chains like Chipotle but have been left cold by McDonald's new ad campaign and its resistance to calls to pay its workers a living wage.
