U.S. Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell filed "cloture" on the question of Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination.
If the cloture vote scheduled for Friday is successful, senators will create a 30-hour window in which to hold a final vote on Kavanaugh's nomination.
“It’s time to put this embarrassing spectacle behind us,” McConnell said.
The vote will follow an FBI investigation that did not include an interview with Kavanaugh or Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who accused him of sexual assault.
