McClure Veterinary Clinic expands with Ozark move

Making a move this week within eyesight of its former location, an Ozark veterinary clinic is now open in a much larger home.

McClure Veterinary Clinic completed its relocation over the weekend in time to open Oct. 27 in its newly constructed building at 5261 N. 22nd St. Clinic owner Dr. Meda Bacon said Williams Construction Co. was general contractor and handled design work for the new, roughly 10,000-square-foot facility. Bacon said the clinic, which previously occupied leased space at 5309 N. Town Centre Drive, opened in 2017 under her maiden name.

“They actually got it done pretty quick. We started in March of this year,” she said of the construction project, declining to disclose her investment. “We’re going from 1,500 square feet to this.”

Bacon said she was simply out of room at her original location and reached the point of turning away clients.

“I was getting booked out at least about a month and we were losing business for people having to go elsewhere,” she said.

With the move, the clinic also is adding boarding and grooming to its list of pet services, which includes wellness exams, vaccinations, bloodwork, emergency care and in-house lab testing.

“I get asked that at least three times a day,” Bacon said about clients inquiring when her clinic would add boarding services.

Additionally, her husband, Troy, contributed to a portion of the new clinic’s footprint. He said ArmorThane USA Inc., a chemical manufacturing company he co-owns, provided polyurea protective coating to most of the flooring in the clinic as well as some of its walls where grooming and boarding will be provided in the basement area.

“It’s a really unique chemical and it’ll last for decades,” he said of the Aquasafe product that resists water, bacteria and chemicals.

With expanded services and a larger facility that includes five exam rooms, Bacon said her seven-employee clinic will soon be ramping up hiring efforts.

“We’re looking to add staff to the basement and the grooming, and we’re bringing on a new doctor in November,” she said. “So, it’s going to rapidly grow to about 15 here pretty soon.”
