The filing dates for the election are Oct. 10–Nov. 21 during regular office hours of the Springfield City Clerk. Paperwork will be available at the clerk’s office in the Busch Municipal Building, 840 Boonville.
Seats up for election are mayor, general seat C, general seat D, zone 2 and zone 3.
Those wishing to file petitions must be qualified voters of the city, residents of the city for at least two years prior to the election and, if filing for a zone seat, must be a resident of that zone for at least one year prior to the election.
Petitions for a zone seat must have 100 registered voters who reside in a particular zone, and general-seat petitions must have 200 registered voters who reside in the city limits.
If more than two candidates are certified for a position, those names will appear on the primary election ballot Feb. 6. The two candidates receiving the most votes then will be on the ballot in the April 3 regular municipal general election.
