Mattel Inc. plans to cut more than 2,200 jobs, which is nearly one-quarter of its nonmanufacturing workforce.
The California-based company also announced plans to sell manufacturing sites in Mexico as part of cost-saving measures.
Officials expect $75 million in severance costs for the affected employees, who are mostly back-office and support workers.
