Mattel sales fall as Barbie stumbles

Sales of Mattel Inc.'s iconic fashion doll fell 21 percent in the third quarter, contributing to an overall 22 percent decrease in profits and 8 percent decline in sales for the top company, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Barbie sales have fallen by double-digits in each of the past four quarters.

Overall, Mattel’s profits fell to $331.8 million from $422.8 million a year earlier. Net sales fell 8 percent to $2.02 billion.
