The American Automotive Policy Council Board of Directors has elected former Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt as president of the organization, according to a Feb. 1 AAPC news release.
Washington, D.C.-based
AAPC is a lobbying group created by Chrysler Group LLC, Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Co. to represent the companies' interests in the United States and around the world.
Blunt succeeds Steve Collins, who retired in October.
"I’m excited to join the AAPC at a time when America’s auto industry is growing, creating American jobs and reasserting its leadership,” Blunt said in the release.
AAPC is active primarily in international trade and economic policy.
“Gov. Blunt knows firsthand the significant contribution of auto manufacturing to America’s economic prospects.” said Kathleen Hennessey, AAPC board member representing the Chrysler Group, said in the release. “He will bring a strong and steady hand to help AAPC navigate the complex policy issues here and abroad that can support a healthy, vibrant domestic auto industry.”
Blunt served as Missouri's governor from 2005-09. He is the son of U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt.
Blunt said he plans to move with his wife and two children from their home in Springfield to the Washington area, according to the
Kansas City Star.
Blunt's home at 1643 E. Catalpa St., in Dougland Terrace, is still currently owned by Blunt, according to
Greene County assessor records. The property's appraised value is $307,800, and its assessed value is $58,480.[[In-content Ad]]
