Mastercard's shares rose 1.2 percent after it reported an earnings beat.
Earnings per share were $1.34, above analysts' expectations of $1.23. Revenue came to $3.4 billion, beating predictions of $3.28 billion.
"We are executing well on our strategy and are pleased to deliver another quarter of record results," said Ajay Banga, Mastercard president and CEO.
