Massachusetts approves $11 minimum wage

Posted online
Lawmakers in the Bay State gave final approval on Thursday to legislation that will gradually raise the minimum wage to $11 an hour by 2017, up from $8 today.

According to CNNMoney, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick received the bill Thursday evening and is expected to sign it into law soon.

It would make Massachusetts the highest-paying state for minimum wages. The highest minimum in the country would still belong to the city of Seattle, which approved an increase to $15 an hour.
