Maryland Heights braces for region-transforming developments

New development proposals for the Maryland Heights area are creating divided opinions among residents, business owners and environmentalists.

On tap are several sports related projects, including a 15-field soccer complex and a $25 million, three-rink facility that among other functions would serve as a practice location for the St. Louis Blues.

Drawing more concern is the retail and residential development plan from attorney Alan Bornstein and Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke, Bornstein’s investment partner.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, rumors persist the developers intend to build a Major League Soccer stadium.
