A "small fraction of employees" from Martha Stewart Living and Martha Stewart Weddings have been laid off.
The move was made because of the recently signed licensing agreement between Sequential Brands Group and Meredith Corp., a Sequential spokesperson confirmed to Ad Age.
Martha Stewart personally delivered the news to the employees. As part of the transition, she has been named chief creative officer for the Martha Stewart brands.
Under the 10-year licensing agreement, which went into effect Jan. 1, Meredith will handle editorial and business functions for Martha Stewart Media Brands.
