Mars plans $100M expansion of Topeka plant

Mars Chocolate North America announced Thursday it's planning a $100 million expansion of its candy-making facility in Topeka, Kan., which would include 70 new full-time positions.

The project comes a little over a year after the division of McLean, Va.-based Mars Inc. opened its $270 million, 500,000-square-foot plant that employs 200 just south of Topeka.  

The 90,000-square-foot expansion is expected to be finished in late 2016.
