Marlins ace Fernandez dies in boating accident

Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez died in a boating accident early Sunday morning in Florida.

The 24-year-old was one of three men killed in the accident. When the Coast Guard arrived, the 32-foot boat was found overturned on a jetty off Miami Beach. Fernandez is said to have died from trauma.

Fernandez was 16-8 with a 2.86 ERA this season, earning his second appearance in the All-Star Game.
