The forecast from New Frontier Data, part of marijuana industry organization Arcview Group, indicates the market will grow from $7.9 billion this year and $5.7 billion last year.
California alone, the most populous state in the union, could bring in more than $1 billion in annual tax revenue after the state legalized weed.
