Missouri State Treasurer Clint Zweifel visited Springfield today to announce that Marisol International has been awarded a $1.5 million Missouri Linked Deposit Program loan.

The Springfield-based global logistics company will use the low-interest loan to support 15 hires made this year - 10 in Springfield and five in Kansas City - and logistics technology upgrades. The company has 50 employees in Springfield, 26 in Kansas City and a total of 140 nationwide, according to a news release.

"Marisol is a homegrown business working in more than 100 countries. This is an investment we must make now in Springfield," Zweifel said in the release. "Companies working on an international level are vital to Missouri's economy because of the business they bring home and the opportunities they provide in foreign markets."

Marisol has branches in Hong Kong, Shanghai and 10 cities in the U.S. The company was founded in Springfield in 2002 and has grown its Missouri exports by 35 percent in the second half of 2011, according to the release.

Marisol provides commercial companies in the global market with supply chain efficiencies, greater visibility and computer-based logistics options.

Through the Missouri Linked Deposit Program, managed by the treasurer's office, qualified borrowers - businesses with less than 100 employees - generally save roughly 30 percent on the cost of the loan.[[In-content Ad]]
