Posted online
Yahoo Finance reports the legal marijuana economy is growing stronger and is predicted to reach an overall annual economic impact of up to $44 billion by 2020.

The article cites the latest industry report from Marijuana Business Daily, which forecasts the economic impact of annual marijuana-industry sales to reach between $24 billion and $44 billion in four years, up from $14 billion to $17 billion in 2016.

Focused on economic impact and not direct sales, the report uses a multiple of four to estimate the money pumped into the economy as a result of sales. Legal sales of marijuana are projected to land between $3.5 billion and $4.3 billion in 2016 and reach between $6 billion and $11 billion by 2020.
