Maria joined the staff of SBJ Publishing, Inc in December of 1999 as a reporter after completing an internship with the company the previous year while still in college. Maria's commitment and flare later earned her the title of Features Editor, which she currently holds. Maria describes her work in this way: "As a member of the editorial department, it's my job to help bring the best business news to our subscribers. I take my role seriously as a source of reliable information about the people in the local business community and the trends that affect our market. Each week I join the rest of the SBJ team to make sure we put out the most relevant news in an informative format."

Maria earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a minor in English from Missouri State University. While in school, Maria worked as a news writer for KSMU radio station.

When asked what she enjoys most about her work at SBJ, Maria said "Definitely, it's the people. Not just my co-workers, but the business people I meet as I represent SBJ in the community and write stories about current business news. Since joining this staff, I have met so many unique and interesting people through my work, and it amazes me that even after all this time, I still meet new people and learn about new businesses and developments on a regular basis."
