Marco Rubio declares presidential bid

Republican Senator Marco Rubio of Florida announced on Monday he is running for president, declaring he is the best person to lead the United States into “another American century.”

Speaking in Miami, Fla., Monday, Rubio said he could unite the Republican Party's factions and present economic solutions for the 21st century, according to the New York Times.

The 43-year-old is the youngest candidate so far in the rapidly growing 2016 presidential race.

“Too many of our leaders and our ideas are stuck in the 20th century,” Rubio said, pointing to education and spending programs put in place by Democrats in the 1990s.
