Mandatory FAA drone registration starts Dec. 21

The Federal Aviation Administration announced Monday drone owners must register their unmanned aircraft online starting Dec. 21.

Drones bought before Dec. 21 must be registered within 60 days. The news comes as customers are expected to purchase 400,000 drones this holiday season alone, according to CNNMoney.

The FAA would charge $5 per registration on drones weighing nine ounces or more and registration is good for three years.
