Mall operators agree to buy JCPenney

Mall operators Simon Property Group and Brookfield Property Partners agreed to buy JCPenney's retail business.

Simon and Brookfield will pay $300 million in the deal, which also will see the companies take on $500 million in debt.

JCPenney's bankruptcy creditors would own a portion of its real estate.
