Malaysia on Monday filed criminal charges against three of Goldman Sachs' subsidiaries.
The country is seeking more than $2.7 billion related to state investment fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad.
Goldman Sachs is accused of making false and misleading statements connected to 1MDB, which has been embroiled in a scandal over employees taking funds for their personal accounts.
