It's common knowledge that the U.S. Postal Service has been hemhorraging money for years and is constantly looking for way to stanch the flow.
Ending door-to-door delivery is now being scrutinized and Republicans in the House of Representatives are on board with the plan, according to CNNMoney. Last week, Republicans in Congress passed a bill to end doorstep deliveries to 15 million customers.
CNNMoney reports stopping the deliveries could take up to 10 years. The USPS has already instituted cheaper delivery options, such as locating mailboxes for new developments in a single central location.
