Danish conglomerate AP Moller-Maersk is investing $3.4 billion with British-Dutch oil producer Shell and others.
The companies are seekign to redevelop and extend the life of production of Denmark's largest gas field in the North Sea.
The investment is expected to extend production at the Tyra field, which was slated to close this year, for at least 25 years.
