Ponzi scheme felon Bernie Madoff is seeking compassionate release from prison.
Brandon Sample, his attorney, says the 81-year-old has end-stage renal disease and other chronic medical conditions, leaving him with less than 18 months to live.
In 2009, Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison for running the multibillion-dollar Ponzi scheme that defrauded hundreds of investors.
