The Madison Square Garden is seeking a buyer for the New York Liberty, its Women's National Basketball Association franchise.
"This was a difficult decision for us, which we made after carefully assessing the needs of our business," CEO James Dolan said.
Established in 1996, the New York Liberty is one of the first original eight teams in the WNBA.
