Macy's to fire 2,500 people, close MO store

As part of a streamlining move designed to save as much as $100 million annually starting this year, Macy's will cut 2,500 jobs and close five weaker-performing stores.

The plan includes closing a store at Jamestown Mall in St. Louis.

The St. Louis Business Journal reports 88 employees will lose their jobs at the Missouri store.

Macy’s also is closing locations in Overland Park, Kan.; Mesa, Ariz.; Irondequoit, N.Y.; and Murray, Utah.
