Lyft is planning a new paid feature that would help users avoid surge pricing.
Called Price Lock, the feature would cost less than $5 per month. CEO David Risher said Price Lock "caps the price for a specific route at a specific time."
Risher said the feature is part of Lyft's broader plan to “open up a can of whoop ass on primetime," its word for surge pricing.
