Lunch-hour series teaches leadership through movies

Posted online
Webster University will kick off a monthlong series next week that will use movies to teach leadership skills during lunch hour.

At “Lunch ‘n’ Learn” sessions, Webster faculty member Larry Dinges will show scenes from movies including “Gladiator,” “Erin Brockovich” and “Pirates of the Caribbean” to illustrate leadership and discuss what its takes to lead in various circumstances.

“In movies, leaders often face challenging situations involving ethics, integrity and trust,” Dinges said in a news release. “What can you learn from these situations? What does it take to motivate others in similar conditions? How can you apply these principles to your own job?”

The six-part series will be 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays between Aug. 21 and Sept. 14 at the university’s Ozarks Regional Campus, 321 W. Battlefield Road. There will be no sessions on Aug. 31 and Sept. 4.

The cost is $20 per session and includes lunch. To sign up, call (417) 883-0200.[[In-content Ad]]
