The event, “Pizza with a Purpose,” was held at the restaurant’s north Branson location.
Funds were raised through entry fees, charitable donations and raffle sales.
“We’ve always wanted to do a pizza-eating contest, and because our anniversary each October coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we decided to use the lure of our delicious food to raise money for an important cause,” said Chris Jordan, owner and operator of the restaurant, in a news release. He added that there are plans to repeat the event next year.
Jeremiah Jones, a sophomore at College of the Ozarks, won the contest and received $250 and free pizza for a year. He ate a large, thin-crust cheese pizza in three minutes, 14 seconds.
