Lowest August gas prices in four years

Just in time to fuel the last rush of summer vacations, gasoline prices in the United States have hit a four-year low for August.
 
Nationally, the average price for gasoline was $3.50 on Aug. 1, 15 cents per gallon less than on July 4, according to CNNMoney. In Missouri, the average is $3.26 per gallon; Springfield's average is $3.14 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.com.
 
The national average has fallen 35 cents since June 25, the report states. Although analysts expect gas prices at the pump to rise slightly in the next month, they are expected to drop again in the fourth quarter, to approximately $3.25 per gallon.
