Lowe's to buy Canadian counterpart for $2.3B

U.S. home improvement and appliance giant Lowe's Companies penned a deal to buy smaller Canadian counterpart RONA in a $2.3 billion deal.

The transaction represents a 104 percent premium to RONA's closing share price on Tuesday.

The deal would create the largest home improvement retailer in Canada.
