Lowe's settles lead paint complaints with EPA

Posted online
Lowe's Cos. Inc. has agreed to pay a $500,000 fine and change its practices for renovating residential properties contaminated with lead paint, the Environmental Protection Agency said Thursday.

The complaints came from Lowe's use of third-party contractors it hired to install items such as doors and windows on homes, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Lowe's and its contractors were accused of allegedly failing to keep adequate records about the removal of lead paint, and at least three times failing to contain and clean up the paint.
