Lowe's posted quarterly net income of $872 million, or $1.05 per share. That's up from $379 million, or 43 cents per share, a year earlier.
Net sales rose 6.6 percent to $16.8 billion. Analysts expected earnings of $1.02 per share on revenue of $16.59 billion.
Like rival Home Depot, Lowe's quarterly results were aided by higher demand from areas hit by hurricanes.
