Karen Scott
Lost & Found Grief Center today announced the promotion of its chief operations officer to executive director.
Kristy Endacott succeeds Karen Scott, the co-founder of the nonprofit who is stepping into the newly created role of director of program development, according to a news release.
“The explosive growth we have experienced in the past several years has created a need to divide the duties that were formerly the responsibilities of executive director into the two positions,” Scott said in the release. “The new role will allow me to focus my time fully on the areas I am most passionate about, which are developing new programs and materials to support grieving children and families.”
Scott co-founded the organization in 2001 with attorney Shawn Askinosie, who now owns Askinosie Chocolate. A
2015 honoree for Springfield Business Journal’s Most Influential Women awards, Scott previously worked for Springfield Public Schools as a teacher, counselor and director of student services.
At Lost & Found, the leadership change has been in the works since Endacott was hired in April 2015.
As executive director, she’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management of the organization, the board and fundraising efforts.
“I’m honored to be following such a great leader as Dr. Scott and look forward to our continued work to ensure that the highest quality grief support is available to more children and families, free of charge, in our community,” Endacott said in the release.
